IN THE PRESS
The National Space Society proudly supports the establishment of a Congressionally mandated Lunar Landing Day as a national day of observance—honoring one of humanity’s greatest achievements and reaffirming our commitment to the future of space exploration.
More than five decades after the Apollo program first carried humans to the Moon, we are once again entering a new era of discovery. With missions like Artemis II now underway, the United States is leading the return to deep space and inspiring a new generation to look beyond our planet.
“Lunar Landing Day is an opportunity to recognize not only the historic accomplishments of Apollo, but also the momentum we are building today,” said Colonel Karlton Johnson, CEO of the National Space Society and Chairman of the National Space Society Board of Governors. “As we return to the Moon for the first time in more than 50 years, it is critical that we celebrate the spirit of exploration and innovation that made it possible—and that will carry us forward.”
By establishing Lunar Landing Day, we celebrate the past, treasure the present, and promote the future of space exploration.
